The kids are loving them.
I put together two versions of the calendar notebook printables – one for early handwriting and another with cursive directions and tracers. You can choose which one works best for your child {see below}.
How to Use the Calendar Notebook
Here’s a peek at how we’re using ours with the kids, and because some of you may not want to read, here is a video tour our our calendar notebook.
{feed readers may need to visit the blog to view the video clip}
Kaleb {kindergarten} is using the manuscript version of the notebook and our 3rd and 5th grader are using the cursive version to sneak in a little extra practice {shhhh}. The first few pages of the printables are laminated and we use a vis’-a-vis marker {it wipes off easily with a damp cloth each day} to work in the notebooks. You can otherwise slide the pages into page protectors and use dry erase markers.
We start off by adding the number for the day we are in school on our 100 Days of School chart. I am determined to do something special this year for our 100th day {and having three kids reminding me about it should help immensely}.
At the bottom of this page we use a vis’-a-vis marker to make an addition problem using the number from the chart and we find the missing number that will add up to 100. The older kids are able to do this fairly easily, but with Kaleb I’m using unifex cubes to help him visualize and group by 10’s until he has a better grasp of the concept.
We then move to the next page where we talk about what day of the week it is and underline it. We also review what yesterday was and what tomorrow will be. The date is written on the next line {in either 8-17-12 form or August 15, 2012}.
The center box below is filled with the current date number {i.e. 15} and then we find the number before and after. We write the daily number and the number word, draw the hands on the clock and put a line on the thermometer for the inside or outside temperature.
Depending on how many days we’ve been in school, we break the number up by 1’s, 10’s and 100’s and show how it is added together. At the bottom of the page we show how it would look if the number were in dollars and cents.
We add a tally mark in the correct monthly box each day we are in school and at the end of the month we add up the days. During the year we can compare from month to month and see how many days we were in school during each month {which is more/less, etc…}.
There are also pages to help us track the weather from month to month and practice writing names {i.e. watching our handwriting improve…hopefully}.
Each month of the year there is a blank calendar for the kids to fill in the calendar. They trace the month name at the top and as they fill in the numbers on the calendar, they find the star at the bottom with the same number and color it in.
Kaleb has been working on a pattern with his stars and really loves this part of it. On the facing page, we fill in the graph to show the weather and at the end of the month answer a few questions based on the graph results.
The calendar notebook printables include the following:
- 12 undated monthly calendars {you can use them year after year}
- monthly weather tracking graphs
- Today is, number word identification, telling time and temperature
- Breaking down numbers by 1’s, 10’s, and 100’s
- Practicing tally marks
- Yearly weather tracking
- Handwriting practice
- Pattern practice {part of the monthly calendar pages}
- Identification of seasons
- 100 Days of School chart

Wow – LOVE this Jolanthe!! Thanks for sharing. My printer is hard at work as we speak =-) Thanks for sharing your amazing creations with all of us!! I shared this with my Facebook readers too =-)
Thank you! We are just starting Kindergarten and I printed off a few sheets but nothing this cute! I struggle with remembering to do our notebook so I started putting it in her chair at the end of school so she sees it before she sits down (hopefully!). Love your blog and get immense inspiration from it.
hope she has fun with it! :)
Thank you so much for this!! God bless.
This is awesome!!! You have created a comprehensive calendar time. Thank you so much for sharing your hard work with us!

I am a private tutor and for the past couple of years have been homeschooling a little family in preschool and K. The K student starts first grade this year in private school, but I am working with her little brother and cousin in preschool. They aren’t quite ready for the calendar binder, but I have downloaded and saved it for next year. Or maybe even start it halfway through this year. Anyway, it is an amazing tool to have at my disposal, I have enjoyed using many of your creations with my students. Thanks so much for your generosity in sharing your tools!
I thought this was really good for both my kids who are seven and almost four. The younger one learns so much by what the older sibling does! :) Thanks!
Thanks so much for sharing these excellent resources with us. My son will just love these and I’m so excited to show them to him.
hope he enjoys them as much as my kids do. :)
Thank you for sharing!
I was just going to start a notebook calendar with my daughter in September! Thanks for putting this wonderful package together. Blessings!
Also, thanks for offering your awesome homeschool planner in the Omnibus bundle. ;)
Are you enjoying the bundle? I’m downloading bits and pieces when I have a minute and enjoying all the goodies! :)
thank you! this is awesome!
most welcome, Lisa. :)
I love this notebook. Thank you so much!
have fun using it! :)
This. Is. AWESOME! If I post a blog entry pointing folks to it, do you mind if I grab one of the photos to illustrate it? Cindy @ love2learn2day.blogspot.com
That’s fine. Thanks for asking! If you can share a link to this post and not the file itself, that would be great. :)
Absolutely!
Here it is. Thank you SO MUCH!!!!
http://love2learn2day.blogspot.com/2012/08/math-calendar-notebook-pages-free.html
thanks, Cindy. ;)
Love this!! Thank you so much for sharing!
Awesome! I think that, and then I see I’m not the first to say that. :) Question, did you laminate and then trim to the page the excess?
yes…I did trim. I love to trim, especially because the page inevitably comes out crooked and drives me nuts. :)
How wonderful! Do you have one in italic handwriting? :)
hmmm…can you send me an example and I can see if I can work on that! :)
http://www.handwritingsuccess.com/example-italic.php
I have read where italic is a more natural way of transitioning to cursive. I am starting this with my little ones this year and transitioning my 3rd grader to italic cursive. Unfortunately all the printables I love are not done with italic. I am not thinking everything has to change for me, but I am seeing more italic handwriting teaching (at least in my little world, LOL). I would love to know what you think :) .
Jolanthe,
Thank you so much for this material! I have a question though? I did not see the two month of July printables in the pack. Are they supposed to be there? This is in the manuscript version. Thanks so much!
Abby,
Check the files again. I reuploaded them and July should be showing. :)
Jolanthe
These are great! This is always a fun part of each school morning for us. I’ve been working on a Spanish Calender Time with printables and hope to share it soon….
These are fantastic!!! Thank you for sharing! Can’t wait to start using ours for Kindergarten!
These are great – and I really appreciate all you have on your site. I had already started something similar but I like your calendar and weather pages better than what I have – is there anyway to print them in landscape? I have the binder setup in landscape so they use the binder as a clipboard almost…. Thanks so much!
quite a few of the other ladies that I linked to have landscape versions – that’s what prompted me to make this, because we like the horizontal version. Be sure to check out their links as well! :)
Thanks Jolanthe – I did check out those sites… Your calendar is still my favorite :)
You’re awesome!
You are the bomb. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you! :)
I have been debating whether or not to do a calendar notebook this year. Now, I guess I will! Thanks for making my job a whole lot easier!
most welcome. :)
I just learned something VERY cool. I was trying to create a clock and thermometer for the big calendar and was struggling. I decided to print off the ones from the notebook, but was disappointed in the size on the big calendar; this is where I learned something. On my printer menu, there is a “poster” button. Click on that and where it says “tile scale”, I put it 200% and it printed that one page on 6 different ones. I have to cut them and glue the clock and thermometer pieces together, but I have a big clock and thermometer that match the notebook pages. (I did cardstock and will laminate) Thank you for wonderful products for free. Hope this info is helpful to someone else!!
That is cool!! Thanks for sharing. And just so you know I do have some larger versions for a few of my calendar printables here:
http://homeschoolcreations.com/CalendarMorningBoard.html
This is great!! My girls will love doing this. Thanks for sharing!
This is super cool. Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! This is the best method I have ever seen for staying on track and learning as we go. I especially like the way we can “sneak” in the cursive for a fourth grader that would rather just print forever. Bless you!
What a great addition to the calendar board! I just put mine together using your printables and am glad to have a notebook version too. My 8-year old is actually the most excited about calendar time. ;-)
Thank you for sharing these! They are fabulous!
I am very excited to start using this. We started school on Aug. 8, but I can’t wait to jump in and use this to supplement what he’s been doing the whole time. Thanks for sharing this great printable for free.
I have seen quite a few of these calendar tools online, but I have to say that this is by far the best one out there. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you!!!
Thanks for sharing. I am not sure if someone has told you yet, so I apologize if this is a repeat comment. While I did not print out the whole calendar portion yet, I noticed that for August and September you forgot to include a number “30” star. Just wanted to let you know.
Check the file, because a layer was missing and I updated the file. You may need to redownload it
Oh, and I was using the manuscript pack. I don’t know if it is the same for the cursive pack.
this is such a great idea! adding this to our morning circle time! thank you!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
My kids LOVE their calendar notebooks. Thank you so much for offering these great printables. I’m not sure if someone already asked this, but can you explain the “What’s the Weather in ______ (month)?” The numbers across the bottom only go to 25… Thank you!
this month {for example}, we’ve had our days split between cloudy and sunny days – so 16 sunny and then 8 cloudy. We only track the weather when we are in school {weekdays}, so typically that would only be 20-25 days a month.
okay, great…got it. I was thinking that the numbers across the bottom corresponded with the day of the month. Glad it’s September–we’ll start fresh!! I so appreciate you!
I thought the same thing.. that the numbers across the bottom were the days of the month..and wondered why it stopped at 25…
Thanks for this!! We were using your morning calendar at our old house but our new house didn’t have a good place for it. This will be a perfect alternative for us. Thank you!
It’s amazing how many learning activities you have included in the calendar notebook, Jolanthe! Thanks so much for sharing! I featured your calendar notebook and ABC Bible Verse Flashcards as my Free Printable(s) of the Day at the Living Montessori Now Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/LivingMontessoriNow
Thank you so much for sharing! I have never seen a calendar notebook before, it’s a great idea. I can’t wait to try it out with my little 1st grader. :)
Thank you for putting together such a great resource and offering it for FREE, Jolanthe! I had tried a calendar time with my kids together but it didn’t work well for us. I think this will be perfect for my son to work one-on-one with me!
have fun – and let me know how it works for your son! :)
Hi Jolanthe! Thank you for these great printables! We are looking forward to starting our notebook for school this year. We loved our calendar board, but we moved to a small house and it got to be so tedious to keep up with it and keep it out of the way. The notebook is a perfect solution!
I have already downloaded the cursive version, but each time i try to download the manuscript version, it says the file is damaged and cannot be repaired. It doesn’t look like anyone else has had this trouble. Any ideas?
Thanks again!! Still love your blog!
You are so awesome and creative! I love my children having a calendar notebook each year. However, I just print from several different websites.
Thank you for compiling into 1 PDF. Also, now I don’t have to create a calendar blog post. I have been directing to your site.
Have a blessed homeschool year (:
Enjoy, Jill! :)
Thank you for sharing these great printables! I had printed out the manuscript one and had it ready to go for my 8 year old. I was showing him how it was going to work when my 11 year old son walked up. Now he wants his own calendar binder! ;-) Thanks!
This is such a great resource! Thank you!
Thank you so much! This is just what I needed! We use to have all this stuff on our walls. But once we moved, we no longer had the space. This solves my problem! Thanks again! :)
very cool!!
This is great. I am going to use it with my kindergarten friends. I have a suggestion for your damp cloth. Use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, it even erases permanent marker.
thanks for the suggestion! :)
I just discovered this through a friend and I love it. I edited my “The (Not So) Organized Mom Binder” post to include it. Thanks! http://shesourceful.com/2012/08/28/the-not-so-organized-mom-binder/
Thanks so much for sharing, Melanie. :)
Thanks for the great binder ideas. But why do the “what’s the weather in….” pages only have 25 days?
because we only track the weather the days that we are in ‘school’, which is typically about 20 days in a month depending on how the weeks fall.
I was wondering how you make all of these great printables; Because i would love to help make some and e mail them to you so you could decide if you wanted them on your page or not. This has made my preschoolers day so much more fun thanks for the help.
I loved that idea. I’d never heard of it before. I will be telling others.
Smiles Michelle
thanks for stopping by, Michelle! I hope it’s a help to you!
Thank you, these are wonderful. I’ve been looking for an easy way to implement calendar time with my first grader, I think this will do the trick.
have fun using it!! :)
Love this idea! Great for students as they are more actively able to participate in Calendar time! I also like how you create a “document” of the students handwriting progress through the year using their name. Great for student and teacher as a quick reference of progress!
enjoy! :)
Jolanthe,
Hello! Thank you for this wonderful tool! It helped my daughter and I start our second year (technically 1st grade) of homeschooling off with enthusiasm. Have you run into the children becoming bored with it once they mastered the concepts? My daughter has begun asking to skip parts because they are too easy for her now and she says it is boring now. She has mastered making change and the analog time. We have even changed things a bit by having her, for example, making the date in the most coins, least and in between. Just wondering how this works for your older kids or if you simply dropped it for them at some point. Thanks for the wonderful ideas and resources!
Lisa M
with our kids we just roll with what they need to do. :) If a concept has been mastered, then we move on to something else – or like you, we modify it. I may ask them every now and then to do it, just to brush up on the skills.
Wow! This is awesome. Thank you so much for your help. Made my day :)
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Nothing is FREE and it was WONDERFUL to find something that was Thanks for sharing your hard work with us at no cost :)
Enjoy them! :)
Thank you so much for this calendar pack! It was so gracious of you to provide this for homeschoolers for free – we will use this every day! I look forward to exploring what else you have offered
How can I edit to Portuguese for example? Thank you.
I am a teacher in English and I have taught for quite a while and I have to say that there are such wonderful people out there, not only creating but sharing all these awesome work.I personally will always be thankful for all this work that makes my life, being a mother and a teacher, so easy. God bless you¡
Hello, thank you for all your great printables I was wondering if you had july through december for the calander days? I have searched the sight for similar months but just havent found any. Thanks
oh and also the weather printables that coordinate with the month lol I like those alot :) thanks again
Stephanie – Are you asking for the calendar notebook? They are at the back of the folder {I started it with August, but it goes through the typical US School year}. Is that what you were asking?
Stephanie – The calendar starts in August, but cycles through to July, so be sure to check the end of the document/file. :) It was put together to follow a typical school year.
Found you on Pinterest – Thanks so much for this! We will definitively use this in our homeschool! We’re starting this year!
Joanna

enjoy!
Thank you so very much !!
I really appreciate your offering manuscript and cursive. I have read about cursive being easier for the beginner to learn first (something to do with fine motor skills, etc.) and wanted to finally try that out with this child (even at no. 7 I am still learning and changing!) but have struggled with premade items that aren’t in cursive. Thank you a lot. This child is also very interested in time/days (constantly asking what day is it, how many days till ___, etc.) and I was thinking of doing activities like this with her.
Of course this means I will have to finally replace my toner. Its been light, but I’ve only been printing coloring pages lately and didn’t care. Can’t print this in pale gray!
I hope this is a huge help to you! :)
Thanks so much for including the Southern Hemisphere. It is so hard to plan when everything has winter graphics and we are suffering 40 degrees Celsius not Farenheit!!!!!
You’re welcome. A few ladies emailed me and asked – it was an easy switch out. So glad it’s helping! :)
You’re welcome. :) A few ladies emailed me and asked – it was an easy switch out. So glad it’s helping! :)
I am having a problem with one or more of the fonts in the cursive version. The number in the stars for the calendar and the signature at the bottoms of the pages as well as various other places are not coming through correctly for me. ‘m just getting thin rectangles where the numbers and letters should be. Can you tell me what fonts you used or possibly send me the one I am missing? I just came across this and I wish I had seen it earlier so we could have started this in August or even a few years ago! I think it is awesome if I could get it to print correctly.
Thank you for this awesome resource!
Thank you! This is a great resource!
Thank You I have been using this PDF resource since 2012!!!
