My Goal for the Month of December….

Around these parts, we sadly lack in the craft department ~ oh, who am I kidding? I’m a craft supply scrooge. This month I do believe that my children may wake up and wonder if they are in the right household when they see what is planned. When we took a family trip to Michaels to pick up craft supplies, the girls kept asking “Are these for US???”

Over the last few nights I’ve been furiously cutting, sorting and preparing for 24 days of Advent fun and learning more about Christmas. We’ll be using the Truth in the Tinsel: An Advent Experience for Little Hands this month and I am up to my eyeballs in glitter, sequins, beads and all sorts of crafty paraphernalia.

My children will be so giddy. I may require assistance.

Decorations are still going up around the house and there are odds and ends to do. The dining room never did get painted…but it’s top on the list. My hubby and I are having trouble agreeing on a color, so we may have to pick another room to paint first!

On the blog front, I have some fun Christmas printables coming soon and will also begin sharing all of the fun that we’re having with Mystery of History.  AND…hopefully you all will start joining in on Moments to Remember that Carisa and I are taking turns hosting on Saturdays!!

Around the house we’re hoping to get some painting done. We have a super blah dining room that is sadly missing all of the homeschool paraphanelia, so I think that will be first on the ‘slap a color up on the walls’ list. That would require us to actually sit down and choose a color, however, so we’ll have to see how far we get on that task.

With the kids? Puzzles. We pulled out a stash of games and puzzles and this momma wants to just enjoy some quiet time in the afternoons/evenings with kids and focus on non-media related fun with the kids.

Sounds simple, no? It truly is…but that is all a good thing!

My Goal for the month of October…

We are fully enjoying the new schoolroom and still have a few loose ends to tie up to get it completely finished. Having our own space has been wonderful.

As for my goal for this month ~ more family time. Period. I’ve been doing much better getting the work/school time balanced, but there are always distractions. This month Rick and I are really wanting to implement more hands-on family time since we’ve been so busy trying to get random projects done around the house. I know that there will always be things to do {it’s a never-ending cycle}, but we’re hoping to create a better balance and focus on the things that REALLY matter. :)

The biggest aim is to cut out the bulk of tv time and finish reading some great book series that we’ve been reading as well as some audio series. We’re reading the Little House on the Prairie series along with some of the Imagination Station books and the kids are really enjoying them…so we’re going to keep it up!

My Goal for the month of September…

Finish the schoolroom and move into it!! I don’t know how realistic that goal truly is ~ but I have HIGH hopes of getting this accomplished. :) Much of this is largely based on how much time my husband has to work on framing out the remaining space and having the carpeting installed {which means I have no idea…just hopes!}.

Even if we can’t move into the room, I am definitely planning on taking a long car drive and visiting Ikea to load up on furniture and fixings for the new school room. Shopping is definitely something that I can do and my list of ‘what to buy’ is being pieced together.

This month we’ll be adding in the remaining subjects that we haven’t started yet after our ‘easing in’ month…oh, the kids are going to be thrilled! or not….
