These Four Faces…

Photobucket

Moments to Remember was developed as a simple way to look back on our week as homeschoolers and find photos that encompass the memories we want to remember.

The week may have been tough, there may have been more bumps than smiles, but in the end these are the moments that keep us going, the ones we need to remember.

These are the four faces that can make me smile, laugh, and cry. Sometimes in the span of just five minutes.

They are also the faces of the children that I am blessed to teach at home.

Spiders and Praying Mantis ~ Moments to Remember

Photobucket

Moments to Remember was developed as a simple way to look back on our week as homeschoolers and find photos that encompass the memories we want to remember.

The week may have been tough, there may have been more bumps than smiles, but in the end these are the moments that keep us going, the ones we need to remember.

Yesterday morning, after a great rainstorm, we really noticed a spider web on one of the bushes near our front porch. The rain had really pronounced the web. There is this amazing tunnel and apparently a rather LARGE spider that resides inside {per the observation of one of our children}.

Praying Mantis on spider web-2

We camped out on the front porch {in lui of our regular science time} to see if we could lure the big thing out. We hunted for bugs and tried to see if one would get tangled in the web. We had at least five praying mantis’ on the same bush and thought that they might be the bait.

Not so….

Praying Mantis on spider web-1

It was SO amazing watching it get a bit stuck on the web, but chew it’s way out of the strands. Sadly, we didn’t get to see the spider in action, but we’re hoping to at least catch the praying mantis in action soon.

We’ll just have to see!

I love that we have the flexibility to just sit and observe and be amazed, changing around our school day to learn more about something unrelated to what we are studying. That is SO my heart for homeschooling. :)

Rollercoasters and Fun! ~ Moments to Remember

Photobucket

Moments to Remember was developed as a simple way to look back on our week as homeschoolers and find photos that encompass the memories we want to remember.

The week may have been tough, there may have been more bumps than smiles, but in the end these are the moments that keep us going, the ones we need to remember.

This past week our entire family went to Six Flags thanks to the Read to Succeed program they offered this past school year. The kids haven’t been to a park like this before, so it was a HUGE treat for all of us.

ready to ride

One of these faces was not so smiley at the end of the ride!

Laurianna was so excited to ride her first rollercoaster and Rick went on one with them {I refused to ride it thank.you.very.much}. Backwards and loopey-de-loos are just not quite where this almost-40-year-old is wanting to be.

Roller Coaster

Just caught them at the top of the picture!

Most of the kids loved it, minus the one who started crying before the first drop {I can’t say I blame her}.

helicopter

Kaleb was a few inches under the 48" mark, so he sat out many of the rides, until we worked our way through the kiddie area. He had much fun being at the controls!

little roller coaster

All of the kids waited in line with Kaleb to ride a roller coaster that he {and one other kiddo} were much more comfortable with. All the hands in the air belong to our kids {grins}.

The Pool and Tea Time ~ Moments to Remember

Photobucket

Moments to Remember was developed as a simple way to look back on our week as homeschoolers and find photos that encompass the memories we want to remember.

The week may have been tough, there may have been more bumps than smiles, but in the end these are the moments that keep us going, the ones we need to remember.

You know what I love watching? My husband playing with our kids. It just makes me smile and something inside really happy.

Kaleb is usually swimming in the shallow end of the pool all by his little lonesome self and Rick went to play with him for a bit. They were splashing each other and then Kaleb was making Rick play ‘tea party’. So instead of a picture today, I have a video clip since it just made us laugh.

Silly Nails ~ Moments to Remember

Photobucket

Moments to Remember was developed as a simple way to look back on our week as homeschoolers and find photos that encompass the memories we want to remember.  The week may have been tough, there may have been more bumps than smiles, but in the end these are the moments that keep us going, the ones we need to remember.

I’m not necessarily a frilly girl. I rarely do anything to my nails {other than trim them}, but have a certain daughter who is all things girly and all things frilly.

Truth be told, she has way more fashion sense than I do. Sad, but true.

She has been wanting me to do some cute things with her nails. After much grumbling, I caved in to the demands and started looking around Pinterest for some fingernail decorating ideas to do with her. Fortunately we were able to find some fun {i.e. cheap} polish at the Dollar Tree.

Watermelon Finger Nails-1

Last week we tried panda bears. This week, we tried making fingernails that look like watermelons. To prove that I can be a wee bit girly, I even did one of my pinky nails to go along with hers {some day I’ll graduate to doing all of them!!}.

It’s silly, yes, but we’re spending some quiet time together doing something she enjoys ~ and that makes it something special to remember.

And p.s. I’ll take any fun ideas you have for nails!!!

Swimming and Encouragement ~ Moments to Remember

These pictures just makes me smile. Our oldest three are a part of a nearby swim team and swimming their hearts out.

Above all, it has been wonderful to see their attitudes develop over the last few weeks and watch a certain Little Miss grow in her encouragement of others.

{this mom may or may not be excited too that there is only one meet left!}
