The Runaway Bunny Printables

The Runaway Bunny copy

The Runaway Bunny is one of those books that will stay on our bookshelf even after the kids are ‘too big’ for the story. I love Margaret Wise Brown’s books and this one is no exception. We’ll be doing a unit on The Runaway Bunny this fall, so these printables were created as a go-along to use with the book. Printables in this pack can be used for preschool as well as kindergarten aged children.

Here’s a peek inside The Runaway Bunny printables:

The Runaway Bunny printables include fun activities to tie in with the story ~ vocabulary words, word tracer cards, amazes, syllable counting, story sequencing, 1:1 counting and more! These are intended to help extend some of the learning from the story itself.

Alphabet Flash Cards and Alphabet Wall Posters

Alphabet-Flashcards.jpg

If you’re looking for a fun (and smaller) way for kids to remember letter formation and also have a quick reminder of beginning letter sounds, you’ll enjoy these alphabet flashcards.

Each card feature both an uppercase and lowercase print letter along with a guide for how the letter is formed. Along with the letters, cards show a picture of an item that begins with that letter (a – apple, b – butterfly, etc.).

There are two sets of cards in the download: one with a cartoon image and another with a photo of a real item.

The alphabet flashcards each print off around 2” x 3”, about the size of a deck of cards. We printed our cards off onto cardstock, laminated them to make them more sturdy, hole-punched them and then put them on a jump ring. {Note: this is how we laminate more inexpensively}.

You can also use the smaller cards to make a fun banner to hang in your classroom.

Alphabet Wall Posters

If you are a classroom teacher, or have more space on your walls, you may want to download the Alphabet Wall Posters. The wall posters show how the upper and lowercase letters are formed, giving children a great visual on letter formation.

Alphabet Wall Posters

These posters are 8 1/2” x 11” in size and one set features real images {they match the Beginning Sounds Poster and several of the other Preschool Alphabet printables} while the second set has clip art images ~ both are cute!

Number Word Printables for Read! Build! Write! Mats

I have a few different number word card printables to share with you all today that will go along with the Read! Build! Write! Mats. This coming year we’ll be working more on number words, so I pulled together a few different pages to use with the number words 1 – 20.

Number Word Cards

There are two different sets of word cards. One set for the numbers 1-10 allows your child to also count using 1:1 correspondence for the numbers. The other two sets are the number itself along with the number word.

All downloads are in the green columns on the Read! Build! Write! page

The Read! Build! Write! Vocabulary Mats

Not familiar with the Read! Build! Write! mats? Basically they are a fun way to work with your child on word identification and spelling.

Read, Build, Write collage

Here’s how you use the mats:

Read: Place one of the vocabulary cards in the top box and read the word together.

Build: Use letter tiles or magnets to build the word in the second box.

Write: Finally, practice writing the word in the bottom box.

Print the mats onto cardstock and then laminate them so that you can use Vis-à-vis markers or dry erase markers on the mats.

Draw and Journal Pages Printable

Draw and Journal Pages

Our children have always love the drawing and writing journals that we pick up every year. The only thing that’s hard is having them inside a journal book and not as loose leaf paper. There are many times that I like to include them in a lapbook we are working on or as part of another project we make.

As I’m gearing up for the upcoming school year, I put together some Draw and Journal Pages for the boys to use during their school time and hope that they will help you all out as well! They go along perfectly with the Draw Write Now series of books we absolutely love.

There are three pages {for now!!} in the free Draw and Journal Pages download. Depending on the ability of your child, there are some with larger spaced lines and one without a center dotted line. Download a copy for yourself and let me know if there are more that you would like to see added!

Preschool Bible Verse Printables ~ Teaching God’s Word

Bible Verse Printables 200

This post is a part of my 10 Day of Teaching God’s Word series

One of the biggest helps to our kids has been using printables for them to remember verses that we are learning. There’s something about having the verse smack in front of your face with a picture clue to help you remember what you are learning.

Our kids have participated in a program with a local church for the last few years and I put together different Bible verse printables for them for those they were studying. The printables typically include an 8 1/2” x 11” page, cut-apart verse strips, and also 4” x 6” cards.

We slip our 4” x 6” cards into a small photo book {usually $1 at Walmart}. The verse strips can be taped or glued together or you can put them in the correct order using a tabletop pocket chart.

Illustrating Bible Verses ~ Teaching God’s Word

Illustrate a verse printable

This post is a part of my 10 Day of Teaching God’s Word series

My mind works well with pictures. I can visualize things and remember easily when there are pictures involved. Every single time I pass a field that has cows grazing in it, the following verses comes to mind from Psalm 50: 10-11…

for every animal of the forest is mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills.
I know every bird in the mountains,
and the insects in the fields are mine.

Several of our kids operate the same way when learning and whenever possible, I try to include drawing or coloring in our lessons. Drawing pictures may seem like a super-simple way to  work on teaching God’s word and you are right!  Adding the ‘picture’ element to your Bible memory can be a huge help for children that are visual learners {I know it is for me!!}.

I put together this simple printable to share with you all. There are two pages in the printable, one with dotted lines for younger children and one for older children.

Have your child draw a picture to represent the verse that is being memorized and copy the verse onto the lines below. Each time s/he recites the verse to you during the week, put a check mark in one of the boxes.

That’s it ~ super simple! Try using it with your children and let me know how it works for you all too!
