There are eleven books on our kindergarten must-read list. With half of our school year behind us and looking ahead at the rest of the year, here are eleven books that we will be focusing on for the rest of the school year.
The learning goes so much deeper when we have a great book that is not only rich in story line, but one that has fun activities and crafts that we can tie into the learning. That allows us the opportunity to remember through the hands-on things that we do as well!

With my younger two boys, I am looking forward to reading Mary Engelbreit’s Mother Goose book with them. Her vivid, colorful, FUN illustrations go perfectly with the rhymes! :)

How did you manage to choose just 11? I would have had to split the post to run all week, there are so many great books out there!! Love your choices though- my list would have included most of those (and then some…….)
Remember…theses are just for the rest of the school year! There are WAY more that we love and recommend. :)

Katy No-Pocket was in our library set this week, too. We will enjoy reading it as we learn about the animals of Australia this month. Marsupial Sue is a fun book to partner with it. I love the message of the book: Be happy with who you are.
Yay! Excited about these! My two preschoolers and I did BFIAR last year and used several of your printables. This year we’re using FIAR this year, but with a new toddler I’ve been looking at also doing some of the BFIAR books we didn’t get to last year. So your printables will once again be great for us! Thank you so much! You are such an encouragement and inspiration in all you do.

Hi Jolanthe! I continue to be inspired by all of your printables and great ideas that you so generously share with new homeschoolers like me and/or ones who are teaching younger children! I was wondering if you had been able to make some of the printables for the books that you mentioned in this post, especially the ones for Henry the Castaway? We are wanting to explore that book next week, and I am not able to find lapbook elements to go along with our lesson.
