I have to say that we are rather enjoying the laziness of summer, especially me. While we are doing some school in a more laid back style {basically we’re focusing on our All About Reading program this summer}, I’m spending time behind the scenes and plotting out what we’ll be doing for school next year with Kaleb.
And making lists, because I love lists. :)
So far, I at least have a basic idea of what we’re going to do next year, but my goal is to have things printed out and ready to go for a chunk of weeks at a time so that all I have to do is pull a folder or bag and start the week off.
The bulk of our year will be tied in with Before Five in a Row, so a friend and I are picking out the books that we’re planning to use, figuring out what months we’re going to do them in and then filling in the gaps with some fun preschool packs {and thinking of ideas for new ones!}.
Needless to say, my mind is swirling, I’m excited and really hope the enthusiasm will carry over to Kaleb too! Next week we’re gearing up for a nearby VBS program {which secretly means I get to do more planning ~ woo hoo!}.
BUT, I’m sure that many of you had MUCH more exciting weeks than we did, so leave a comment, share a link and let us know what YOU did this week!
Preschool Links
Ready to Link Up?
Oooooh! I love lists and planning, too! I only wish that I implemented as well as I planned. :D
Thanks for sharing and hosting.
Planning is one of my favorite things to do too. I’d thought I had our pre-k year all mapped out. But I keep finding new stuff that I want to do so I wind up tweaking and changing things.
I’ve always been intrigued by Five in a Row. I look forward to seeing your posts about it. I saw that it’s up for review on TOS this year and I’m hoping I get picked to review it. It’l be fun to do before the little one is ready for Sonlight. Thankfully 5th grade is more set. I just have to finish adding it all into Homeschool Tracker. I’m almost done with that I just need to sit down and finish the last little bit.
Hi Jolanthe –
Thank you for the Preschool Corner linky. I have been linking up for about a year & 1/2 now. My oldest son is now 6 (he will be starting 1st grade offically next month) and my other oldest son will be offically starting preschool. I was just wondering are you adding 1st grade to Preschool Corner as you did K last year?
Thank you,
Nicole

Nicole ~
Not planning on adding it at this point, but am so glad that you have
been a part of Preschool Corner for so long. :)

i’m going to use BFIAR with my soon to be 3 year old this upcoming school year as well.
so excited to get moving on it!! :)
Can’t wait for next week I can’t wait to plan next week either!
My kids are going to a sports camp next week, so I’m going to spend time planning and doing stuff.
Do you know when they’re going to release more levels of All About Reading?
next one is scheduled for August I believe.
Eeep! I’m doing my own variation of BFIAR this year for a few of my kids, too. Now I’m super curious to see what you’re up to with your fun printables and such (I’m working on prepping things asap as Blueberries with Sal has to happen next month since that’s when the blueberries will be ripe to go u-pick). :)
You are so awesome to host over the summer! Thank you! Still can’t wait to see your B4 fun. =) Have fun planning!
Ideas are forming…the question is will they come to fruition? :)
I am also doing BFIAR this year with my preschooler. I will be checking back to see how you plan yours out. I honestly never even thought about when to do each book, but now I will have to go back and check out if any apply to a season or theme etc.
we plugged in ones for specific seasons first and then
filled-in-the-blanks with the rest of them. ABC Bunny is first on our list!
Hello! I have a quick question for you, my daughter is 4 1/2 and we are homeschooling her. She has mastered all Pre-K skills (thanks hugely to your packs and ideas!) and we were planning to start Kindergarten with her in September. We plan to use My Father’s World for Kindergarten.
Lately she is VERY interested in spelling words, what words say, and lots of reading. I’m thinking she may be ready to dabble into reading. I thought I may take the first few months of our school year and just focus on Phonics and Reading Skills.
Do you recommend any certain reading program? I’ve heard Explore The Code is good and I just looked at All About Reading which looks good too. MFW does cover Phonics in Kindergarten but I’m not sure how through it is. I don’t want to keep repeating the same info in different programs. I do LOVE your teaching style and feel Josie learns a lot through your packs.
Thank you!
All About Reading and All About Spelling have been two of my most
favorite programs!!! I highly recommend their products and they both
come with a one year guarantee!! Definitely worth it!
