Although the internet can be an amazing resource, there are times when it can be a struggle to balance online time with everyday tasks. My trip to Relevant in October provided a great resource for me to schedule my time ~ Amy Andrew’s ebook Tell Your Time What to Do. Since then, I have worked MUCH harder at budgeting my timeā€¦and sticking to that budget!

Have you struggled balancing blogging, blogs, the internet vs. family? What have been things that have helped you out? Other moms on the the Homeschool Village panel are sharing their tips and suggestions for balancing online time and have some. Be sure to stop over The Homeschool Village and read more here.

    Thank you for sharing this. It has become a real struggle in my life, and I need all the ideas I can get.

    How’s the moving going? Here I have been unpacking some extra storage from our move five years ago. It has been so much fun getting rid of stuff I don’t even need.

    You and your family are in my prayers.

    • I’ve packed quite a bit…and as much as I can for the time being since
      I ran out of boxes! :) We also can’t get into our new house yet because
      the prior owner isn’t out…but as soon as he is, I’ll be going crazy!
      :) Most of the stuff I’ve packed has been things that will be
      immediately unpacked and put away {kitchen, bathrooms, closets, etc….}
      so that we can reuse the boxes and then pack the stuff that will need a
      place once the furniture arrives.

      I just want to have access to our new house!!!!

  2. Totally can relate to trying to find the balance!! I love blogging and I love reading other mom’s blogs. I wish it wasn’t so time consuming. Trying to just put time aside when the children are sleeping to look at blogs or do blogging. Even then, with email checking and other online pursuits it adds up to quite a chunk of time. I dont want online to interfere with Bible reading, either. Any way it’s divided it should be carefully managed!

    Hi Jolanthe,
    I’ve wanted to stop by for quite a while to say thank you :::THANK YOU:::for sharing your heart, your amazing ideas and resources, your experiences and all of your many wonderful printables with everyone!

    I have used many of your ideas in our own homeschooling. We have 4 boys…ages, 8 months, 3, 5 and 7. We implemented your workbox system modifications and love how well it works for our family. We’ve also been using many of your morning board ideas along with your chore charts. These have made life so much nicer around here. Our boys are all very visually oriented, so these things all work very well for us. Our 5 year old, especially, needed something that would “show” him what our day would look like. The workbox tags are perfect! He was born with Pfeiffer Syndrome (craniofacial/skeletal issues) and an associated severe hearing loss, so communication (spoken English and ASL), understanding and comprehension along with the need to make our environment very visually stimulating is always something we’re working on.

    As for online time…I love blogging our life and school adventures, but always want to make sure it brings God the glory. I do try to spend my time blogging only in the early mornings or evenings when the kids are sleeping. I do need to be careful about this though as I can easily be sucked in to spending TOO much time gathering resources, therefore over loading myself. So, I try to keep my google reader filled with ONLY the blogs I love to visit and the ones that truly bless my life…like yours.

    BTW, I love the way your blog is organized. Great job!! I’m looking into doing more with our blog as I am in the process of writing some ASL curriculum together and want to be able to put it up on my blog once it’s finished. Incorporating ASL into everything we learn has always been a tremendous help with ALL of our boys.

    Anyway, thank you again!
