The heat this week has been yucky to say the least, so we enjoyed some swimming at a friend’s house to help us cool of some {and give Mommy a bit more time to put some printables together}.
The ‘low’ of the week came when we gave away our last two roosters to some friends {did I mention that out of 8 chicks we raised, we had FIVE roosters}? That means the egg ratio dropped tremendously. :)
The ‘high’ came in the first egg from one of our chickens!! It was so teeny tiny, but the kids were whooping and hollering and so excited!! We have had three official eggs now {that we’ve found}. The kids were excited to add a few new hens to our flock, but the poor things have been hiding and aren’t quite as ‘tame’ as our girls, so we’ll have to see how that goes.
We’ll be traveling this next week to visit family, but I have some fun things to share with you all, so stay tuned! We’re looking forward to some cooler weather next week, but here’s a question for you ~
What are your favorite ways to beat the heat and keep your kiddos happy?

I’d love to see pics of your chickens and coop!
I’ll have to post some soon! :)
I normally would let the kids have bubble baths or let them try mixing colours with pre-coloured ice cubes.
We seem to be having the opposite temperature problems than the rest of the country. Oh it’s been sunny for the most part (except when it’s raining), but nothing above mid-70’s. BUT, when it does get warm, we slather on the sunblock and break out the wading pools, slipnslide, sprinklers and have popsicle picnics in the shade. :)
We’ve been home bound this week because I’ve had extra littles with no AC (yes, I live in the prehistoric ages…ugh). We have tried to keep cool regardless. Popsicles, sprinklers, cool baths, water balloons….and lots of low key activities like sitting in front of a fan watching a movie. :)
I am so tired of the heat! I feel like we’ve been stuck inside since winter. It was rainy all spring and now its so hot and humid!! Fortunately, we’ve been busy with VBS and play dates. We really only venture out of the house first thing in the morning. We have a few indoor play areas that we visit every now and then too.
With the heat we have been in the garden most days keeping the fruit and veg quenched….an exhausting job in this weather but it does have it’s plus points…after getting all sweaty and mucky from pulling up weeds the kids love it when i spray them with the hose pipe whilst I’m watering. :)
