Music is a pretty big part of our family’s life. Throughout the day songs are typically playing in our home, car, or being belted out by one of the kids. When music can integrate worship and learning – well, that immediately makes it something that I desire our kids to hear more of, especially when it involves the Word of God.
If you are familiar with any of Yancy’s music, her newest release Roots for the Journey may seem a bit different. While her music typically has a bit of a fun edge for kids, Roots for the Journey is more of a soft and relaxing worship CD full of Biblical truth. The music is unplugged, simple, and FABULOUS.
Here’s a bit more about the CD from Yancy…
“I started off making this a lullaby CD. Taking key scriptures and truths that I wanted to pass on to my son and make sure he knew and understood the direction and answer these scriptures provide us. As I worked in the studio, I realized that the music was shaping up to be way more than lullabies. Already, when I meet people in my life that are facing big mountains, fears or need answers I’ve been able to use these songs as a way to help strengthen their faith and help them meditate on what God’s Word says. I can’t wait to see how God uses these songs to strengthen the faith of those young and old.” ~ Yancy
Personally, I am loving the truths that are being learned by our kids and myself {my personal favorite is ‘His Eye is on the Sparrow’}. Roots for the Journey is packed with songs with gentle reminders of God’s faithfulness and will be an encouragement to all ages.
The 12 song on the Roots for the Journey CD includes: The Joy, Safe, Creator, Hope, His Eye Is On The Sparrow, Trust, Healer, White As Snow, Our God Reigns, Call, No Other Name, and I Don’t Want To Go.
Download the FREE Roots for the Journey App!
One of the things that I am MOST excited about is the companion app that can be downloaded for iPad, iPod, and Droid devices. The Roots for the Journey app allows you to view the song lyrics, watch a short video on the story behind the song, read a short devotional based on the song, or work on an activity together for some hands-on fun. Overall it is a GREAT resource for families and a quick ‘go-to’ because it has all been planned out for you to grab and do.
